Project X Immersive Theatre Show in Covent Garden

Project X is a new venture from the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, running from July to November.  It sounds like a lot of fun - a theatrical walking tour around the area with a story and some puzzles built in.

"A new pop-up immersive theatrical adventure launches on Saturday 7 July 2012.
A killer concoction of time travel, murder and cryptic clues combine as the audience meet mysterious characters at various locations around Covent Garden. During the two hour performance and tour they will unravel the secrets of Project X, and encounter a world full of impossibilities – including a mysterious future where things aren’t what they appear to be.
Project X starts in Covent Garden Piazza and continues on foot around the neighbouring area. The audience will be in two groups of a maximum of 15 people.
Shows run at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 July and last approximately two hours. Tickets are £30.00 (£25.00 concessions) and include a return ticket to London Transport Museum which can be used within one month of performance."

The Big Egg Hunt - All Around Central London

This week marked the start of Faberge's Big Egg Hunt, in lots of locations around central London.  200 artists including Rankin, The Chapman Brothers, Bombas & Parr, Nicky Haslam, Vivienne Westward and Sarah Foskett have been commissed to paint one giant egg each.  These are hidden around London for the 40 days between Shrove Tuesday and Easter, and then will be auctioned off for The Elephant Family and Action for Children.

The maps tell you where the eggs are - and to be honest it sounds like a bit of a ruse to get you to visit lots of shops and different districts.  Since this site is all about getting you out and about in London to do different things, there's nothing wrong with that...

Find the 12 zone maps here - zones include Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Piccadilly, Carnaby Street and South Bank - print them out and get searching.  Lots of fun for kids, especially.

You can also buy the eggs on the site - bids start at £300.  Remember, only one of each has been made.

When - 21st February - 31st March

Where - All around Zone 1

Courvoisier's Dickensian Walking Tours in London - NOW FINISHED

Courvoisier is going to be holding walking tours around London (starting in Covent Garden) in November and December.  You'll get to meet some Dickensian characters and drink some special punch, and it all sounds rather splendid.  Tours cost £12 per person, and are bookable here.

"The Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour is an interactive, hour long walking tour of Dickensian London, visiting Dickens favourite haunts and past residences. During the tour you will find yourself immersed in the drama of ‘A Christmas Carol’  complete with Dickens’ characters popping up along the way! The historic journey will culminates with a well-deserved Christmas Courvoisier Smoking Bishop punch made by Ebenezer Scrooge himself (just like the final scene of the festive favourite) at Dickens’ personal book binders, the Old Curiosity Shop.
‘Guests can expect the unexpected as well as learning some history along the way with locations including Bow Street Magistrates Court (where Bob Cratchit would have gone if Scrooge had put him up in front of the debtors court), the Charles Dickens Coffee Shop and St Clements Danes Church (whose bells are said to have woken Scrooge from his nightmare dreams). They will also take away a surprise gift so that they can recreate this Christmas spirit and festive frolics at home.’"

When - 23rd November - 3rd December, Weds - Sat only

Where - Meet at Bow Street Magistrates’ Court, 28 Bow Street, London, WC2E 7AS
