The Secret Samosa Club's 3 Month Residency at Tuk Tuk in Shoreditch
Secret Samosa Club is back for a three month residency in Shoreditch, after a very successful two week stint in Borough earlier this year. I went, and it was great. Lovely samosas, but also loaded fries, wings, and lots more from the transatlantic partnership of Joti and Rick. SSC will be serving at Tuk Tuk in Kingsland Road (formerly Translate Bar), on Thursday to Saturday nights from 10th May to 10th August 2019. This is going to blow people away!
"Joti Sohi, ex-Management Consultant and now London’s “Samosa Queen” today announces a three-month residency at the vibrant Tuk Tuk bar in Shoreditch after a two-week sell-out slot at Great Guns Social back in February. SSC is the brainchild of Rick Matharu, who is heading back to London from his native Canada to head up the proceedings and showcase his famous ‘Naanwiches’ – ridiculously filling, totally delicious, tandoori bacon-filled creations, complete with moreish cheese pull – alongside his renowned range of Butter Chicken, Punjabi Cheeseburger, and Dosa samosas – plus new Bangers & Mash. The vibe at Tuk Tuk is less ‘sit down’ and more ‘snack and sip’ so Rick and Joti have devised a more snacky menu to suit. It all kicks off on Friday 10th May and runs every Thurs-Sat night until 10th August.
Rick’s ‘naanwiches’ will be made fresh on site every day and are “a cross between a BLT and a grilled cheese sandwich, but with Indian vibes”, says creator Rick, whose love of fusing his Indian heritage together with the best of North American fast food, knows no bounds. Kicking off the menu is the ‘TBOLT’ – Tandoori Bacon, onion, lettuce, tomato’, followed by the ‘Shahi Paneer Naanwich’ – creamy paneer with salad bits, achari mayo and sambal oelek. Rick’s famous fried chicken also features on the menu with his ‘ting tang’ sauce and this can also be served as a salad. The residency also promises new ‘secret’ samosa recipe as well as the classic Chaat Fries, Butter Chicken Loaded Fries and Gobi Wings. Vegans are well catered to with the Dosa Samosas, Chaat Fries and Samosa Chaat."
