fodder's 3 Month Residency at Great Guns Social in SE1

fodder, one of the best new pop-ups of last year, has found a new home with a 3 month residency at Great Guns Social near Borough, serving Mondays to Fridays from 20th March 2018.  Set up by four friends, including former Fera at Claridge’s chefs, Michael Thompson and Ollie Downey, fodder serves incredibly high quality food with a sense of fun; for example a dessert at one of their brunches was a miniature Tunnock's Tea Cake.  It's great to see them going from strength to strength - don't miss this chance to dine with them!

"fodder, who take over the Great Guns Social kitchen on March 20, celebrate local, wild and seasonal ingredients by foraging for their produce and working with local suppliers to create dishes sourced from the surrounding area.
Former Fera at Claridge’s chefs, Michael Thompson and Ollie Downey joined forces with fodder co-founders Louise Stapley and Jenny Novitzky to create a string of wildly successful pop-ups - and led to them being shortlisted in the Foodism 100 as one of the best pop-ups in London.
Their offering, playfully titled ‘fine dining gone wild’, stems from a desire to work closely with suppliers and a community of local producers and craftspeople to deliver a truly localised experience.  And at Great Guns Social, the concept of locally-sourced products will extend to the bar, where home-made pickled syrups will be used as part of a cocktail menu specially created for the duration of the pop-up.
Jenny Novitzky says of the pop-up: “We've really connected with the Great Guns Social team's energy and commitment to promoting up-and-coming chefs and pop-ups.
“The location is amazing, rubbing shoulders with some great businesses in Flat Iron Square and Borough Market and putting us at the heart of London's food scene. It's great to be launching in
spring - a forager's dream - so we'll be bringing lots of weird and wonderful ingredients into the kitchen from the wild.”
While the menu is subject to availability of produce and therefore subject to change, diners can expect dishes including pork and smoked eel pie with dirty mash; celeriac, confit yolk, oyster mushrooms and three corner leek; cod poached in seaweed butter served with foraged sea vegetables and nettles + chocolate for dessert.
Individual dishes will be priced between £2 - £6 for bar snacks and £9 - £16 for main dishes.
fodder will also offer the tasting-style Chef’s Choice tasting menu, serving up six courses for just £50 per head.
The fodder team will take over Great Guns Social’s kitchen for three months from March 20th, with monthly events, collaborations and a series of talks about sustainability and resourcefulness in the food space also taking place during their stay. There will also be a weekday lunch offer, a Monday evening discount for hospitality industry staff, and the space will be available for private hire.
Their stint in the Great Guns Social kitchen will be yet another jewel in the crown of Borough’s most exciting new restaurant. The venue, opened in mid-2017 and owned by Laura Gregory of film production company Great Guns, operates a ‘pop-up kitchen’ policy, which sees celebrity chef Maria Elia curating a schedule of residencies by the country’s finest up-and-coming chefs, ensuring an ever-changing food offering.
Past residencies have included the hugely well-received Khalid Dahbi and food author and chef, John Gregory-Smith, who both offered unique takes on Moroccan cuisine. The brilliant JUMA Kitchen also took over Great Guns Social’s menu with their Iraqi cuisine and social media influencer Clerkenwell Boy hosted a charity brunch for his charity, Cook For Syria.  With more huge names lined up for 2018, Great Guns Social is quickly making its name as the go-to destination for London’s foodies."
