Stories on Our Plate, aka SOOP, is a supperclub that celebrates the stories (& food) of refugees, and migrant chefs. On Friday 23rd February they will be holding a special Mexican night at Space at 61 in Peckham, where the food will come from Racio Carvajal, focussing on her hometown in central Mexico. Tickets are just £36 - & it's BYOB - expect a very special evening!
"Stories On Our Plate (SOOP) warmly invites you to SOOP's monthly food and storytelling series, showcasing this month Mexican food history writer & food consultant Rocio Carvajal. You will become immersed in Rocio's rich Mexican culinary heritage and her gastronomic knowledge of Mexican cooking - much of which is unknown to Londoners. Expect an evening of storytelling, interactive materials, exquisite and unknown dishes. You will also hear more about SOOP's work from across the organisation and its approach to food in our everyday lives.
This is a truly unique menu of Mexican cookery, primarily featuring recipes from Rocio's hometown in Central Mexico. These are recipes which are unknown to the London food scene. Rocio's extensive gastronomic knowledge of Mexican cuisine is staggering, which she also showcases in her own quarterly digital magazine dedicated to the celebration of Mexican culinary heritage. Expect to be blown away!
SOOP has partnered with Space@61 in Nunhead, South East London. As a dedicated pop-up and supper club space, Space@61 offers an intimate yet vibrant feel within a vibrant neighbourhood. This is not a venue to miss out on!"
