Chicken of The Woods is a new weekly supperclub from an impressive team of chef Chris Slaughter and front of house James Galton, taking place on Fridays and Saturdays from 29th April 2016 at the 1930s Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End.. There are seats for just 20 each night, and it costs just £35 for a 5 course menu, or £60 with matching wines.
"Chicken of The Woods is a chef-run Supper Club with a food blog backbone, which will be our modern take on the work of classic British folklore food writers such as Grigson, Hartley & David.
Our two-man team is Chris Slaughter - a chef with over 20 years experience; and James Galton – the front man whose bread and butter is running restaurants. The duo lists exploits working together including The Pig & Butcher, Angel; Smokehouse, Canonbury; and most recently, thoroughly British restaurant Heirloom in Crouch End.
COTW will be operating from a 1930’s parquet-floored former cloakroom within the beautiful Grade II listed Hornsey Town Hall, offering one sitting for around 20 people The COTW concept offers a weekly changing tasting menu revolving around 4 carefully chosen ingredients, showcasing total and utter seasonality. But what goes down on the table isn’t something you’ll find anywhere else. We cut out the middleman, scouring the country ourselves to source our produce. And this is where we differ from a modern restaurant – in our ability to spend the week on the road, Every month we will be collaborating with a different wine supplier, with the intention of matching each small batch of delicious wines to our core menu ingredients. For our launch and beyond, we are excited to initially be supported by the wonderful Les Caves de Pyrenne."
