Frank's Cafe - Peckham's Original Rooftop Pop-up - Back for 2015

Update - Open for 2016 from Thursday 19th May 2016

Franks Cafe, the rooftop restaurnt & bar in Peckham, re-opens for 2015 on Thursday 28th May.  Perched on the top of a multistorey car park, ten stories high, it's one of the original London pop-up restaurants - first opening for the summer in 2008 - and still one of the best.  Take the lift for the 10th floor, and walk up from there, past Bold Tencancies' art, til you get to the rooftop.  There you'll find the bar and restaurant open Tuesday-Sunday until 27th Sept, and serving seasonal food, freshly cooked.  Plus, the views are stunning!

"Frank's Cafe is the flagship architectural commission of Bold Tendencies in Peckham. The bar was designed by Practice Architecture (Paloma Gormley & Lettice Drake), and opened in 2008 by bartender Frank Boxer and chef Michael Davies.
Myles Donaldson will be overseeing the running of Frank’s kitchen.  Conceived after the meeting of two young chefs enrolled on a catering course in a rural town at the tail end of the 70’s; food is the only thing he knows.
He will be sourcing the best seasonal produce, cherry picking from the abundance of a summer harvest and using the highest quality meat and fish.
Treating the ingredients sympathetically with an array of modern, classic and ancient cooking techniques, he will bring an ever evolving menu to Frank’s summer 2015."

When - 28 May - 27 September 2015
Our opening hours are Tuesday - Sunday
Tuesday & Wednesday 5-11pm
Thursday - Sunday 11 - 11pm
We are closed on Mondays

Where - 10th Floor, Peckham Multi-Storey Carpark 95A Rye Lane, London SE15 4ST

"The Car Park is a well sign-posted 3 minute walk from Peckham Rye station.
Turn left down Rye Lane, and shortly turn right at the Abbey National building society, at which point you'll see the Multiplex cinema facing you. Take the yellow lift to the right of the cinema entrance to Level 6. Follow signs to Level 10.
The drive-in entrance to the Car Park is on Cerise Road (SE15 5HQ). Parking is available on Level 6."

The 'London Riviera' 5 Month Dining Pop-up by Tower Bridge

From 1st June to the end of October the area around City Hall near Tower Bridge will be transformed into the London Riviera pop-up with food from Ceru Restaurant, with supper clubs from chef Tom Kime, and a number of drinks events including Ciroc masterclasses.  It's a great location - make sure you go and check it out.

"Launching on June 1st 2015, More London Riverside will be transformed into THE LONDON RIVIERA, an immersive food and drink experience open from 8am to 10pm daily, making it the place to be on balmy evenings for stunning sundown views of Tower Bridge and the Thames.
The five-month bespoke pop-up, created and produced by Nick Zuppar and this team from THE FOOD FIRM, and designed by well-known Hollywood film designer Sonja Klaus. The riverside hub is inspired by the over-the-top Miami beachside and the chic French Riviera - decked out with palm trees, luxurious day-beds, giant pineapples and pink flamingos, LONDON RIVIERA will be a fabulously frivolous after-work meeting spot or a chilled weekend hang-out.
Celebrity chef John Quilter has worked closely with CERU Restaurant and their Executive Chef Tom Kime to curate a sizzling summer menu, offering up an ever-changing menu that is bright, vibrant, colourful, healthy and most importantly, incredibly delicious, playing on the delectably fresh flavours of Eastern Mediterranean street food. Tom (previously of The River Café, Le Pont de la Tour and Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant) has embraced the fierce flavours of the Levant to create an exotic sharing food experience.
Highlights include a beautiful kaleidoscope of dips including Pancar (roast beetroot, yoghurt, garlic and pistachio), Fadi (fried baby courgette purée with tahini, roast garlic, yoghurt & lemon) and Spicy Roast Red Pepper dip with chilli, walnuts & pomegranate molasses, all served with freshly baked pita; Crisp apple, pomegranate & mint salad with green chilli, lemon & roasted pine nuts; Salad of baby spinach with labneh, dried cranberries & toasted flat bread with za’atar; Ceru’s signature Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder with Shawarma Spices; Kebab Karaz Spiced Baked Meatballs with sour cherry and cranberry and Baklava flavoured ice cream with roast nut brittle, & burnt honey caramel.
These exciting flavours will be complimented by Miami-inspired cocktails, craft beers, fresh pressed juices and organic coffee from CRU KAFE.LONDON RIVIERA is part of the MORE LONDON FREE FESTIVAL, running from 1 June to 24 September; the series of free events will showcase a free entertainment programme, including all of the summer's sporting highlights on the big screen (including Live Wimbledon, British Formula 1 and British Open Golf), live music, live theatre and cult and classic film screenings. LONDON RIVIERA will be THE place to be this summer. In addition, there’ll be cocktail and mocktail mixology classes with some of London’s top mixologists, and special paired food, drink and live entertainment experiences.
There is something for everyone, so come on down to the More London Riverside site by City Hall from 1st June onwards to enjoy the (hopefully!) warm summer days and long evenings with a few drinks, some delicious food and fantastic entertainment."

Noemi's brünch German Summer Feast in Streatham

Noemi, whose Berlin Brunches have been a big hit this year, is now hosting an evening event - a German-inspired Summer Dinner Party at Boyce de Roca in Streatham SW16 on Thursday 4th June.  The £25 menu includes pulled pork and sauerkraut, and will finish with the German Summer Dessert 'Rote Grütze' with home-made Quark Ice Cream and Marzipan Petit Fours.  Delicious!

"London’s best German-inspired Summer Dinner Party has its debut in the heart of Streatham
After four successful Berlin Brünch events in Brixton, Battersea and Hackney, Noemi has teamed up with the Streatham Food Festival to bring you the best of German Summer flavours.
Join 25 fellow foodies at Boyce Da Roca, a quirky neighbourhood café in the heart of vibrant Streatham for a Summer Feast inspired by her German roots (she is originally from Berlin).
She will pickle, bake, poach, slow-cook and make this a fun and inclusive event for everyone involved. In collaboration with Belsazar and Mondino - Germany’s first own Vermouth and Amaro brands - a professional mixologist will prepare mouthwatering cocktails, which complement and underline the flavours of each dish on the menu.
There will also be typical German Beer, Berlin soft drinks and organic local wine for you to choose from.
What’s the Food like?
Who said German food is only about Pork Knuckles, Bratwurst and Brezel – this menu is a bit different and captures the freshness of summer, German traditions, lots of passion for food and locally sourced ingredients.
Menu
Upon arrival Noemi invites you for some mingling over nibbles and drinks to kick off the evening.
You will then be seated among a romantic and rustic setting of fresh flowers and candles before the first course will be served at 8pm – Smoked Mackerel Pâté on German Rye Bread with freshly pickled Cucumber Salad.
The main course comprises coffee-infused, succulent Pulled Pork on Wholemeal Sourdough topped with Clarence Court’s finest poached Egg. To balance the dish you will get to taste fresh Sauerkraut with Coriander and Pineapple, Red Cabbage with Raisins, Cinnamon and Apple as well as Noemi’s take on the Berliner Potato Salad.
For desert, she will introduce you to her favourite German Summer Dessert 'Rote Grütze' with home-made Quark Ice Cream.
To round up the summer evening there will be hand-made German marzipan served with coffee & teas.
Please note, all drinks are on top of the ticket price. However, get your hands on the cocktail fly to accompany each course (three cocktails in total)."

The Golpar Persian Supper Club's Isfahan Dinner in Fitzrovia

The Golpar Supper Club, at Gitane Restaurant in Great Titchfield Street, holds regular Persian dinners, focussing on cuisine from different parts of the country.  On Saturday 30th May it will be from the city of Isfahan, on the Silk Road, with a menu that includes Khoresht – E- Mast - Slow Cooked Lamb in Saffron & Yogurt Sauce Served with Aromatic Rice.  The dinner costs just £35, and it is BYOB.

"Discover the delights of regional Persian food with its amazing variety of tastes, textures and smells. BYOB!
In this supperclub we are paying a visit to the magnificent city of Isfahan.
Isfahan is located on the main north–south and east–west routes crossing Iran, and was once one of the largest cities in the world. It flourished in the 16th century under the Safavid dynasty, when it became the capital of Persia for the second time in its history.
Isfahan is famous for number of dishes such as Beruni, Fesenjan and Khoresht-e mast. In this supper club we will be cooking one of our all time favorite dishes from this region, Khoresht-e mast which is the slow cooked lamb cooked in yogurt and saffron and is served with rice.
Gaz or Persian nougat is the famous sweet coming from Isfahan. It is made from rose water, pistachio and sap of Angabin which is native to the Zagros mountain range. Negar has brought couple of boxes from her recent visit to Iran and we will be serving it with mint tea after your meal.
Four hundred years ago, Isfahan was larger than London and more cosmopolitan than Paris. Isfahan is the crown jewel of all the cities in Iran and we are ecstatic about cooking the signature dishes of this city in our supperclub.
We guarantee that you will fall in love this cuisine!

Kali Cooking's May 'Treinta de Mayo' Supper Club near Angel

Kali Cooking's Flaming Flamingo supper club returns to the upstairs space at The Joker of Penton pub in Penton Street, between King's Cross and Angel on Saturday 30th May with a 'Treinta de Mayo' menu; a fusion of Asian and Mexican cuisines.  £33 gets you the Mexican / Asian fusion menu, including sharing dishes of ricotta empanadas and habanero dressed leaves.

"The Flaming Flamingo supperclub is excited to be back at our lovely venue, The Joker of Penton Street in Angel, following a fantastic event in April.
Sticking with the ever popular Asian/Mexican theme I've created a menu I hope will get your taste buds tingling. Done a little differently this time with a selection of sharing plates to start. I've taken inspiration from my recent travels to Laos and Thailand and my never ending love of Mexican flavours.
We’re starting as always with welcome nibbles and a chance to chat to your fellow supperclubbers over a couple of drinks at the Joker's private bar. We'll be starting with sharing dishes of ricotta empanadas and habanero dressed leaves, Larb cod cheek lettuce cups and mixed mushroom quesadillas with roasted red salsa. Followed by fried fish and king prawns with a spicy green mango salad, Thai herbs & noodles. We'll finish the meal with sticky rice, amaranth, mango sorbet, passion fruit and nectarine.
I’ll be sourcing fish from my usual place at Borough Market so whatever fish is best that that day we’ll go with. Special dietary requirements can be catered for if you let me know in advance please!
The Joker has a wonderful selection of wines to accompany your meal and a fully stocked bar where you can stay on and keep drinking the night away (3am)"

When - Saturday 30th May 2015, 7.30pm - 11pm

Where - The Joker of Penton Street, 58 Penton Street, Angel, N1 9PZ

Tickets - £33 from Grub Club here
