Kilburn to Kensal Winter Night Market

A new winter market & night market is happening opposite Queens Park station in NW6 for 5 dates this December.  It's a precursor to a regular market coming in 2013, and looks like it's A Very Good Thing.

"EXPERIENCE the true flavour of the Kilburn to Kensal community this December at the all-new Kilburn to Kensal Winter Market at The Albert – London’s newest meanwhile* space.
This unique project will showcase the very best produce from local traders and artists, from quirky Christmas gifts to inspiring arts, music to sensibly priced organic veg. The KtoK markets offer a great opportunity to support the local community and also offer the chance to buy something unusual, sustainable and creative as a different type of gift this festive season.
The KtoK Winter Market will also host the cream of the London street food scene, featuring culinary luminaries such as Bhangra Burger, Roost, Bang Wok and Bleeker St. Burger among others. The market will finally give savvy North West Londoners the chance to sample fresh, exciting and darn right delicious street food right on their doorstop.
Caren Owen of community events specialists Can Can Productions, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the creative diversity of this vibrant area of London in a brand new space. The Albert is a fabulous venue for everyone to get involved with, so there was no better way to mark its transformation from a former Royal British Legion club than to stage a Winter Market that genuinely reflects the character of the area.
The markets will be running every Saturday from December 1 to 15, with two additional Night Market events on December 6 and 13. We’d urge anyone with a passion for anything local to come along and see just what it being made on their doorsteps.”
Aside from a wealth of pitches and stalls, KtoK Winter Market will feature a schedule of fun creative workshops for the whole family, run by The Albert’s artist-in-residence and local creatives, including the chance to make your own Christmas cards, gift tags and decorations.
For the kids (and adults) there will also be ping pong competitions, letter-writing to Santa, and the chance to muck in and help decorate The Albert’s Christmas tree. Mum and dad can enjoy mulled wine, spiced apple cider, mince pies, roast chestnuts and Christmas hampers – with a selection of ethical firs also available to buy (five trees will be planted in Malawi for every one bought). And for those feeling the Christmas spirit, KtoK is running a buy-one-give-one scheme where you can donate a tree to local people who’d otherwise go without this Yule.
The night markets will take it all up a notch with more grown up creative fun.  See you there!
This market is a prelude to the weekly Kilburn to Kensal Market at The Albert which launches in January 2013."
