Alter, chef Andy Hogben's take on vegan, Asian cooking, is starting a new residency at SHAMAN, the cafe inside the Leman Locke Hotel, just round the corner from Aldgate East tube station, starting on Friday 23rd October. I've had - and loved - Andy's food at two previous pop-ups, and I can't wait to see what he will do at this new residency. Get booking!
"alter was founded by Andy Hogben, (ex Dabbous, Som Saa & Andrew Wong) in response to the paradox of suddenly becoming vegan, but being completely disillusioned by vegan food, and its wider culture in the UK.
Having worked in some of London’s most exciting restaurants and with a head full of Anthony Bourdain travel shows, Andy realised there could be so much more to vegan food than simply replicating a British meat & dairy led diet and set about creating dishes that married up to veganism’s own worldwide sense of perspective.
Andy says: 'Delighted to announce the next chapter of our journey begins this month with a 6 month residency at Leman Locke in Aldgate East.
This is the big one. The first, full fledged version of the concept. Full menu. House Cocktails. Craft Beer. Low intervention wine. We'd love to see you there!'"
