A new branch of East Street, the pan-Asian restaurant in Rathbone Place, has opened at 53 Northcote Road, SW11, close to Clapham Junction station. It is at the site of a former branch of Byron, and is currently offering 50% off food for diners until the end of September if they mention '50% off food' to their server, according to this announcement on their site (ts & cs apply). The pop-up is scheduled to run until the end of the year; I think we will see lots more of these sorts of pop-ups, where established restaurants take over vacated sites.
"We have been given the keys to an Old Byron site in London on Northcote Road, Battersea. We will be there until the end of the year serving our East Asian Classics. Please tell anyone that you know in the area. We hope to be open from Friday 18th September. We will soon have a reservations open, but as ever walk ins are welcome. Choose from light snacks washed down with authentic Asian beers, Asian influenced cocktails, refreshing wines and soft drinks. Our selection of small plates, salads and greens – some of East Asia’s favourite street snacks – can be shared with friends or enjoyed on your own.
Main meals of street food classics, hearty soups in a bowl, wok-fried dishes to seal in flavour, or fragrant curries for that spicy hit – what’s not to like! If you’ve room, try our delicious desserts with great ice cream flavours and other favourites."
