Pedro Passinhas, chef at the Denim 'n' Dine pop-up near Blackhorse Road and more, is launching a pop-up for the London Design Festival and International Wallpaper Week (essentially 22nd Sept - 4th Oct 2017), where he will be serving up a 7 course menu, inspired by wallpaper, for £60. This is taking place at the House of Wallpaper pop-up at 19 Greek Street, Soho, which is an immersive wallpaper exhibition, looking at its history and more. This is certainly the most imaginative pop-up I've seen for a while - can't wait to visit!
"Experimental chef, Pedro Passinhas, is set to launch his latest pop-up restaurant ‘Off the Wall & onto the Plate’ during London Design Festival, where guests can dine on a seven-course menu entirely inspired by wallpaper.
The unique pop-up will open on 22nd September in The House of Wallpaper by Graham & Brown at 19 Greek Street. The menu includes ‘sheet scallop’ served with slow cooked pork neck, metallic paper made from fresh oysters, and an edible wallpaper napkin amuse-bouche.
The interactive culinary experience will feature on the top floor of The House of Wallpaper in the heart of Soho – an immersive wallpaper exhibition looking at the fascinating history of the wallpaper industry, the processes involved in its creation and the latest innovations in wallpaper design and technology.
The House of Wallpaper exhibition has been created by Graham & Brown, the UK’s largest wallpaper manufacturer founded 70 years ago and based in Blackburn, Lancashire, along with leading interiors and architectural specialists SHH, as part of London Design Festival (16th-24th September) and International Wallpaper Week (2nd-8th October).
Open for less than two weeks (22nd September - 4th October), diners should book now for the chance to tuck into a limited edition menu of décor-inspired dishes that are designed to test the senses with taste, texture, colour and pattern.
Passinhas is a well-known face on London’s pop-up restaurant scene, having launched Denim N' Dine in 2016 – serving haute cuisine from a working denim factory on Blackhorse Lane in Walthamstow.
Pedro Passinhas, said: “Cooking is an art form and a means of expression, and so is home décor. Bridging the gap between wallpaper and food was a challenge, but we’ve managed to translate the patterns and textures onto the plates while keeping the menu delicious, locally-sourced and seasonal.”
Alan Kemp at Graham & Brown, added: “We’re really excited to launch this first-of-a-kind concept with Pedro during London Design Festival. The pop-up restaurant and our interactive exhibition are both fantastic celebrations of all things wallpaper, and we can’t wait to see how our prints have inspired each dish on the menu.”
The menu costs £60 per person and diners should visit www.thehouseofwallpaper.com to make a booking."
