The Vault Festval runs frm 25th January - 5th March in the space under Waterloo station, accessed via Leake Street. Providing the food this year is Balkano, an Eastern European pop-up, founded by Martin H Shaw, ex of Conran, and The Cake Shop Bakery. Expect 'bitey' sized eats like flatbreads and 'mighty' sized ones like Goulash, priced at £4 and £9 respectively. Note that you don't need a ticket to the festival to eat at the pop-up - it's open to all.
"Balkano, an Eastern European pop-up kitchen opening from 25th January to 5th March, will fuel VAULT Festival 2017. Souvlaki, goulash and more from chef Martin H Shaw is set to satisfy hungry audiences. Tickets for the 200 shows spanning everything from theatre to circus, via film, comedy, music and more, are available now from VAULTFestival.com.
Food at VAULT Festival 2017 arrives in the form of Balkano, a kitchen inspired by chef Martin H Shaw’s travels in Eastern Europe. Shaw has worked for the Conran Group, alongside Tom Aiken and at the award-winning Cake Shop Bakery, Woodbridge. At Balkano he is serving up heart-warming ‘bitey’ and ‘mighty’ sized plates including Hungary Hot Potato, Smoky Serb Salsa and flatbread, plus larger plates such as Chicken or Courgette Souvlaki with Labneh.
Shaw, reflecting on his exploration, comments:
"Balkano’s menu is about embracing the wider Balkan Peninsula including some Greek and Turkish influence. I want to give people a really great, quick alternative to your average posh kebab joint.”
‘Bitey’ size portions will be priced at £4 each with ‘mighty’ plates at £9, a combo offer of £12 will also be on offer.
Two new themed bars presented in collaboration with Meantime & Campari will provide ample space to enjoy craft beers and cocktails. Spaces for any occasion, whether joining the party or seeking a secluded spot, will be available. Entry to VAULT Festival’s bar spaces is free so guests are welcome to simply come and enjoy the ambience."
