JUMA Kitchen's October Residency at The King & Co in Clapham

October 2016 sees JUMA Kitchen taking over catering at The King & Co in Clapham, serving their Iraqi food daily from 3rd to 30th.  Itaqi food isn't that well known in the UK, so it's a great oppirtunity to try dishes like tender saffron chicken,  spiced baba ganoush and humous with freshly baked tanoor bread, and handmade kubba hamuth dumplings in rich tomato sauce.  Philip's food is delicious - you're in for a treat!

"Following their sell-out success at supperclubs and popups across London, JUMA Kitchen are now bringing their contemporary Iraqi cuisine to popular independent Clapham pub The King & Co, for their first extended residency. Launching on Monday 3rd October and running daily throughout the month, the new pub popup will showcase an array of irresistible Iraqi small and large plates ideal for sharing, plus regularly-rotating specials and original weekend brunch dishes.
Visitors to JUMA Kitchen’s month-long takeover at The King & Co can enjoy the distinctive and flavoursome culinary creations of founder and head chef Philip Juma, whose unique and talented approach has changed the way people perceive and experience Iraqi cuisine. Featuring a wide selection of meze and small plates including Middle Eastern favourites falafel with tahini, spiced baba ganoush and humous with freshly baked tanoor bread; plus lesser-known delights like handmade kubba hamuth dumplings in rich tomato sauce, the new Iraqi menu is the perfect feast to share with friends over craft beers and fine wines in The King & Co’s casual setting.
Determined to put Iraqi cuisine on the map in London, JUMA Kitchen’s new residency will also offer hearty large plates such as tender saffron chicken and the show-stopping Dolma special - a combination of onions, baby peppers and vine leaves all stuffed with marinated lamb mince and rice in JUMA’s signature spice blend, then slow-cooked in lemon, pomegranate and garlic and served with lamb cutlets. Those looking for a sweet ending to their supper are sure to be satisfied by the celebrated popup chef’s much-loved knafa, a luxurious dessert of baked cream and soft cheese topped with shredded filo pastry, and drizzled with orange blossom water syrup. Hailed as one of Evening Standard’s top 10 boozy brunches in London, during the daytime on Saturdays The King & Co will serve up JUMA Kitchen’s modern Iraqi twist on breakfast classics; ranging from courgette fritters with charred lebna to Iraqi tanoor bread stuffed with bacon, fried egg and homemade tamarind and date sauce; accompanied by bottomless spicy Bloody Marys, refreshing Cava and selected cask ale for a great value £25 meal package."
