The Waverley Arms in Ivydale Road, SE15 are keeping up their run of Thursday night takeovers with a new series from local street food traders Eastern Bloc, who serve, as the name suggests, food inspired by Eastern Europe. Expect dishes like smoked paprika, okra and smoked pancetta potato salad (pictured) and pulled pigs cheek bun with pomegranate and red cabbage. It'll be serving every Thursday evening from 7th July 2016.
"Eastern Bloc is a Peckham inspired Eastern European food venture started in 2014. Inspired by Peckham's wild and ever changing produce and infused into traditional Eastern European recipes, its aim is to give people a taste of the unfamiliar, with an ever changing menu that's all about grilling, charring and smoking, be it vegetables or exciting cuts of meat.
Expect dishes like:
-pulled pigs cheek bun with pomegranate and red cabbage
-smoked paprika, okra and smoked pancetta potato salad
-smokey aubergine on toast with rosemary pickled red onions
-pork, beef and apricot kofte with sweet mustard."
