The Punk Pop-up Shop at The British Library

The British Library, near St Pancras, is holding an exhibition on Punk 1976-78 - the key two years - and to go with it they're opening a pop-up shop to sell items inspired by the period.  Open daily, the shop will be open at the same times as the Library itself.  Inside the shops there are lots of punk records - CD and vinyl - plus books, jewellery, T-shirts, badges, cushions and more.

"Punk’s not dead. The London subculture that burst onto the scene in the mid-70s is setting up camp inside the British Library with its own pop-up shop offering exclusive prints, rare vinyl and a listening booth.
The pop-up shop is part of a Punk season at the British Library to mark the 40th anniversary of this unique and exciting musical phenomenon, led by a new exhibition Punk 1976-78 which looks at the formative years of punk and the rise of iconic groups from the Sex Pistols to The Clash. The Library’s pop-up shop brings together a selection of vinyl, gifts and homeware inspired by the range of rare material showcased in the exhibition, from fanzines and flyers torecordings and record sleeves.
Featuring a ‘record store’ style set up, the pop up shop includes a 1970s replica listening booth, kindly lent by Rock n Roll Public Library, giving everyone a chance to listen to the rare vinyl on offer before purchasing. You can then climb into a classic photo booth with friends and take away a memento of your visit.
Also available to buy from the British Library are rare limited edition prints from the legendary punk photographer Sheila Rock. A vivid document of the London 70s punk scene, these prints depicting the birth and rise of the punk scene are among the most significant images of the period.
All products can be purchased from the British Library shop or online at shop.bl.uk The Punk 1976-78 exhibition opens at the British Library and runs from Fri 13 May
