Allihopa's Scandinavian-inspired Residency at The King & Co in Clapham

The King & Co in Clapham is certainly keeping their customers' taste buds entertained with their regular kitchen residencies.  May 2016 sees the arrival of Allihopa, Scandinavian-inspired smoked fish artisans, who will be serving daily in the pub, with dishes like a smoked haddock scotch egg and Janssons Temptation tartiflette with anchovies; tempting big plates like Pyttipanna hash with mushrooms, parsnips and onions, plus, if you want meat, Swedish meatballs with mash, pickled cucumber and lingonbelly jam.  Yum!

"Smoked fish artisans Allihopa are bringing their Scandinavian-inspired specialities to The King & Co this May, in their first extended kitchen residency. Launching on Tuesday 3rd May and running daily throughout the month, the popup at the popular independent Clapham pub will showcase the talented streetfood trader duo’s sensational hand-smoked fish alongside an alluring array of delightful new dishes.
Since their launch last Spring, Allihopa have become well-known as unmissable rising stars on London’s streetfood scene, and built up a loyal following through their lunchtime trading sessions with KERB. Co-founders Jake and Sam specialise in producing cold-smoked trout from their bespoke smokehouse in Norfolk, which they serve in a contemporary Scandi-style with vibrant homemade pickles and piquant sauces. Meaning “everybody” in Swedish, Allihopa’s food offers a complete tasting experience to satisfy every palate, encompassing elements of saltiness, sweetness, acidity, smoke and heat.
Visitors to Allihopa’s kitchen residency at The King & Co can enjoy the popup chefs’ signature streetfood favourites including their infamous fish balls and their Zlatan bun stuffed with home-smoked fish and 48-hour salted pork belly. The daily menu will also feature exciting new Scandi-inspired small plates such as a smoked haddock scotch egg and Janssons Temptation tartiflette with anchovies; tempting big plates like Pyttipanna hash with mushrooms, parsnips and onions, and Swedish meatballs with mash, pickled cucumber and lingonbelly jam; as well as regularly-changing desserts and specials.
Weekends will also see Allihopa debut a host of brand new brunch dishes promising a modern Scandinavian twist on traditional breakfast classics, such as ägg royale hand-smoked Norfolk trout, poached egg and dill hollandaise on rye sourdough. Hailed as one of Evening Standard’s top 10 boozy brunches in London, The King & Co bar team will also offer bottomless Bloody Marys, Cava and selected cask ale for a mere £15 more for diners  taking advantage of Allihopa’s refreshing new brunch menu.
Located just moments away from the main drag of Clapham Common, The King & Co has rapidly earned a reputation as a local pub with a difference since it opened eighteen months ago. Anthony Gunson and his team are committed to providing a carefully-curated selection of interesting craft beers, wines and spirits, plus friendly and attentive service, in a relaxed welcoming space. Allihopa’s May residency is the latest in The King & Co’s series of acclaimed kitchen collaborations with well-respected London streetfood traders and popup chefs (including The Bell & Brisket, Fowl Mouths, The Cheese Truck and Donostia Social Club), which allows pub visitors the chance to enjoy extraordinary food unlike anything else on offer locally."
