The Italian Dinner is back for 2016 with a supper club at The Planet of the Grapes wine bar in EC4, near Mansion House station, on Saturday 27th February. Payment is by donation of £35 (or more) and this time the theme is Italian winter food - expect tasty dishes from the Italian Alps like Pizzoccheri and Polenta with Sausage.
"We have come out of hibernation! And after a trip to Rome to load up on tasty ideas and good food, we are ready to open our kitchen again!!!
When you come to one of our dinners it's like stepping into la cucina di mamma. The food is prepared by two passionate Italian chefs that take their inspiration from family recipes to bring new exciting dishes to the London food scene. The night starts with an aperitivo at the bar, normally a Spritz, a Negroni or a glass of Prosecco with some nibbles to whet your appetite (and you need to bring a big appetite). You can then prepare yourself for a four course unapologetically authentic Italian dinner. Have you ever wondered why Italians spend hours at the table? Well, come and find out at the Italian Dinner. Start with antipasto, then a pasta dish followed by a main course and finish with dessert (the kind you always have room for).
The menu will be revealed on the night but we do happily cater to vegetarians and gluten intolerant guests. Obviously we do also cater to carnivores and gluten lovers.
Winter is a great time as it gives us the excuse to try some tasty food from the Italian Alps such as, Pizzoccheri and Polenta with Sausage. To make your night even more special, the dinner is hosted by Planet of the Grapes, one of the best wine bars in the city and Margherita, our very own wine expert, can suggest the perfect wine to pair with each course - if you are so inclined.
The Italian Dinner is a family business. Join us and expect to be transported to the Bel Paese!"
