From 2nd - 17th January 2016 Malaysian street food trader Sambal Shiok will be taking over the Salvation in Noodles restaurant in Finsbury Park, N4. Serving dinner daily, the menu will include the curry laksa from their sell-out run at the Newman Arms, nasi lemak, beef rendang, satay and potsticker dumplings. You've got to go!
"Popular Vietnamese restaurant Salvation in Noodles is handing over its Finsbury Park site for two weeks in January 2016 to Malaysian street-food sensations Sambal Shiok, in an innovative move conceived to give both businesses’ guests and teams a taste of something new.
Salvation in Noodles (SiN) founder Colin Tu will give Sambal Shiok’s Mandy Yin and her team full use of the premises at 2 Blackstock Road, London N4 2DL for a fortnight from Saturday 2nd to Sunday 17th January inclusive. Dubbed #SiNxSambalShiok, the residency will allow them to experience running a bricks-and-mortar restaurant for the first time after successfully trading at Street Food Union and Street Feast and a six Saturdays-long residency at Newman Arms.
Meanwhile, Salvation in Noodles’ original Dalston site will remain open as usual. As a thank-you for their hard work in making SiN Finsbury Park a success, any of Colin’s team from either of his restaurants who wish to will be able to take the time off - a longer holiday than it’s usually possible for many working in hospitality to enjoy, especially over the festive season.
Says Colin, “It’s unusual for a restaurant to let anyone take over completely, especially for as long as two weeks, but Mandy is an old friend and I know that #SiNxSambalShiok will be a smash. Mandy and her guys get to experience what it’s like to run a restaurant, while those of my team who want to can take a good long break. It’s win-win for both of us, and our customers!”
By taking over the Finsbury Park premises with its fully-equipped kitchen, Sambal Shiok will be able to serve a much wider range of dishes than ever before. On the menu will be the curry laksa from their sell-out run at the Newman Arms, nasi lemak, beef rendang, satay and potsticker dumplings. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will also be available."
