Jimmy Garcia's Secret Garden supper pop-up in Clapham North is turning into The Lodge, a restaurant inspired by alpine ski lodges, for the winter of 2015 - 2016. Serving warming food like fondue, cheese, meats (including game), plus a special weekend brunch menu. It will be open every Tuesday - Sunday just seconds from Clapham North tube from Thursday 8th October - and I'm sure like last year's Lodge pop-up in Balham it'll be a huge hit. Go!
"Fresh from celebrating the launch of his new cookery book, pop-up maverick Jimmy Garcia has announced the imminent return of the hero of last year’s winter dining scene - The Lodge.
Designed to bring après ski to the Capital, the Lodge will be popping up in Clapham this time round, and will feature the same cosy, alpine style décor as before – the perfect antidote to the winter weather. With a waiting list of two months last year, people are being advised to get in early, with bookings being taken now.
The menu will once again be a foodie’s paradise, with everything from grilled duck hearts with pickled blueberries to tasting board of rabbit, not to mention Chateaubriand of venison and cured meats (exclusively sourced from third generation butchers in Jimmy’s father’s home town of Asturias). That’s not forgetting the famous Lodge fondue either, with a selection of cheeses from Neal’s Yard, as well as a range imported from Courchevel in France. All wild game will be provided by gamekeeper Rick Easton in Surrey, alongside other choice cuts from Norfolk, whilst vegetables will come from wild foragers in Kent and a farm in Brighton.
The Lodge won’t just be providing lunch and dinners – it will also be welcoming guests to its’ Brunch Club every Sunday from 9 – 11am. At £20 for Bloody Marys, wild hot breakfasts’, pastries, granola and unlimited filter coffee, it’s set to be the ideal haven for hungover Londoners seeking a place to while away their Sunday mornings. For those with a sweet tooth, it’s a trip back to the delights of childhood with Jimmy’s Ice Cream Factory, with a special sweets shelf containing jam jars of every topping imaginable; from brownie pieces to jelly babies and meringue.
Meanwhile, those seeking something a little stronger will not be disappointed, as the popular hot cocktail menu will also be back with a bang. This will include everything from mulled wine and cider to the signature buttered rum – not to mention some new hot toddies. The beer - 1936 - is also in keeping with the theme, brewed at the foot of the Swiss Alps."
