We love a good collaboration, and this week sees the start of a two week stint where Masterchef winner Tim Anderson brings his Nanban cuisine to United Ramen in Upper Street, Islington. Taking place from Friday 17th - Tuesday 28th April 2015, onFriday - Sunday it's walk-ins, and on Tuesdays its two special ticketed dinners, which cost £30 each, and focus on French and Caribbean influences for the food. "Masterchef winner Tim Anderson is bringing his Nanban brand to Islington in an exciting two week collaboration (17-19th & 24-26th April) with independent ramen shop United Ramen. The ‘United Ramen x Nanban’ mash-up is the first in an innovative series at the Upper Street site exploring the creativity and versatility of the noodle soup through its culturally diverse history that the United Ramen brand pioneers.
Tim is preparing six special dishes to celebrate the launch of his cookbook, Nanban: Japanese Soul Food (published by Square Peg), which will be on sale at United Ramen.
Dishes include Nagasaki Chanpon Ramen and an Obi-ten style Mackerel Scotch Egg sitting alongside United Ramen favourites such as Spicy Sichuan Tantanmen and Asian BBQ spare ribs. Additionally, both teams are collaborating on two exciting ticketed special events focused on French influenced Hatchō Miso Duck Ramen and Caribbean influenced Curried Goat Tsukemen (dipping ramen), respectively."
