Pop-up cinema specialists Press Play are back in late November for a three day stint in West London - showing everyone's farourite Jamaican Bob-sleigh film Cool at Queens ice & Bowl, the Queensway aIce Rink. Screenings are from Weds 26th - Fri 28th, and As fits the event you should dress up in your best 'Jamaican Ski Wear' as it's going to be quite chilly on the ice.
"After recently being described as the best out-of-cinema pop up by Timeout Magazine, Press Play bring you their biggest event to date. This year has seen everything from a 60s themed screening of Austin Powers overlooking St Paul's Cathedral, to an exclusive pop up film club in the London Underground at Old Street Station.
Living up to their motto of “We Press Play Anywhere”, their next event is taking place on an ice rink. Yes, an ice rink...
Doors open at 7pm (6:15pm on friday) and you are to come prepared for the cold, dressed in ‘Retro Caribbean Ski Wear’ with the focus on a hint of old skool blended with that lickle Jamaican twang. You will be greeted by a host of fun-lovin staff on arrival and taken to “Jamaica” where a selection of rum cocktails will be on offer at 'The Duppy Bar', along with Red Stripe, Ting and Old Jamaican Ginger Beer. Shake your shoulders to the reggae vibes, munch some delicious Jerk from the 'Dubjam Shack', practice your sled technique in the bath and along with a host of other activities even get your hair braided Caribbean style!
You will then travel back to 1988 for "The Winter Olympics", pick up a warm rum punch en route, a blanket and some hand warmers, and make way to your seat on the ice. A bag of sweet coconut and vanilla flavoured Propercorn awaits and waitresses will be on call to order food and drink to your seat!
The night doesn’t end there. Grab your free Vita Coco and head to Bodo's Schloss for the event after party (Thursday and Friday) where your wristband means you're a complimentary guest! To make it easy, first time Uber app users can use our code 'ONTHEICE' for a £20 free cab ride to arrive in style and carry on the party...
