Good and Proper Tea's 4 Week Residency at tokyobike near Old Street

KERB trader Good and Proper Tea, who sell tea from a converted Citroen Van are moving indoors for a month in February and March with a residency at bike store tokyobike, near to Old Street.  They will be serving tea & home made cakes every day, and will also have three special tea tasting events - see the link at the bottom for how to book a place on one of these.

"Street-food favourite and expert brewers, Good & Proper Tea, are teaming up with tokyobike for a four-week residency at their cycling concept store on Tabernacle Street from 18th February.
Since their launch in December 2012 following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Good & Proper Tea has gained a loyal following on the street-food scene thanks to their unique approach to takeaway tea. Every day, they custom-brew a selection of carefully-sourced loose-leaf teas from their much-loved 1974 Citroen-H van, until now based at KERB King’s Cross and Brockley Market. The partnership with toykobike will be Good & Proper Tea’s first foray into trading from a fixed location - from a custom-built ‘Brew Bar’ inside the store.
Founder of Good & Proper Tea, Emilie Holmes, says, “The people of Shoreditch are spoilt for choice when it comes to coffee – it’s a notoriously caffeine-fuelled community – but up until now it has been near impossible to get a really good cup of tea. We hope the move will allow us to continue changing the way people think about tea, and thanks to the beautiful space at tokyobike our customers will, for the first time, be able to take time to sit and enjoy the tea too. “
The Good & Proper Brew Bar will serve teas from all over the world, including Japan, where tokyobike’s iconic cycles are designed.
The Good & Proper Brew Bar will launch at tokyobike on Tuesday 18th February and will serve a changing menu from their collection of single-estate teas for sit in or takeaway, alongside a selection of homemade cakes. The tea will also be available to buy in 50g or 100g packs to take home.
Tea Tastings hosted by Emilie will be held on Tuesday 25th February, Tuesday 4th March and Tuesday 11th March. Each session will cover a range of topics including: an introduction to tea types; how the teas are grown and then processed, why loose leaf tea, and how to brew the perfect cup. The tastings will begin at 7pm and last one hour, with an opportunity to chat to Emilie over a complimentary G&P tea cocktail afterwards."
