'Sake & Spice' Sunday Social at Roti Chai near Marble Arch

On Sunday 14th July Roti Chai is holding another Sunday Social lunch, this time with Natsuki Kikuya (former Zuma & Roka sake sommelier and founder of the Museum of Sake), who is collaborating with Roti Chai's Rohit Chugh to produce a special 4 course menu with both Indian and Japanese influences, with specially selected flights of sake.

"The second in a series of monthly Sunday Socials hosted by Roti Chai Street Kitchen & Dining Room sees a unique collaboration between Rohit Chugh (founder of Roti Chai) and Natsuki Kikuya (former Zuma & Roka sake sommelier and founder of the Museum of Sake). Rohit and Karan Kashyap (head chef at Roti Chai) have spent weeks experimenting with acclaimed sushi chef, Masashi Noguchi, to create a one-‐off 4-‐course menu featuring classic Japanese dishes with a twist of traditional Indian flavours. Appropriately, the menu focuses on rice – a shared passion in both India and Japan – and will feature dishes including:
Biryani ura maki inside-‐out rolls, with tandoor smoked chicken tikka, mango & mint, hand wrapped in sushi rice and coated with onion seeds.
Gunpowder chutoro nigiri, aburi-‐style tuna nigiri with a South Indian curry leaf, coconut and Tellicherry black pepper ‘gunpowder’ sprinkle.
The Sake & Spice Sunday Social on Sunday 14th July in Roti Chai’s Dining Room at 3 Portman Mews South W1, will also feature flights of carefully selected ‘Houraisen’ sake from Sekiya Brewery in Aichi prefecture, halfway between Tokyo and Osaka. Established in 1864, Sekiya is considered amongst the most modern and innovative sake brewers in Japan. The first course will be served with a flight of 3 chilled Junmai Daiginjo – Gin, Ku & Bi – light, complex and fragrant; the second course with chilled Junmai Ginjo and Junmai Ginjo Nama (an aged  version). The main course will offer an opportunity to sample a sixth and final sake, Kasumizuki Junmai, served warm. Whether you are a seasoned sake connoisseur or a complete novice, both Natsuki and President Sekiya (of Sekiya  brewery) will be on hand all afternoon to answer questions."
