"Pop up Opera will perform for one night only in the refurbished Victorian powershed, Dalston Department Store. This exciting East London venue, dedicated to supporting creative entrepreneurs, will be running a bar alongside this evening of outstanding vocal talent and drama in Pop up Opera's Rita & La Serva Padrona.
"Deceit, trickery, marriage, love and lust superbly explored… such an innovative piece of theatre. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to have some fun and experience some of the finest vocal talent around!" A Younger Theatre
Following their successful Spring tour, highly-accliamed Pop up Opera present an ingenious new production combining Donizetti's Rita and Pergolesi's La Serva Pardona.
These two wonderful one-act operas take place on the same stage, their scenes and stories intertwined. One mute servant appears in both, tying the two tales together.
Pop up Opera have been touring their productions in unconventional venues across the country, such as bars, barns, boats and caves since 2011. Instead of a formal theatre environment, the intimate venue makes for a much more direct connection with the singers and the music, something even seasoned opera-goers often miss. Directed by Darren Royston, who has been praised for his dynamic use of movement in opera, the production is uniquely adapted to each venue. Unmissable."
