Luke's Cafe is a new 7 day pop-up next to The Hayward Gallery on the South Bank, selling breakfast lunch and dinner, including pulled pork sandwiches and pies from Hartland Pies.
"A new pop up ‘food shed’, Luke’s Café, is now open and offering award winning pies and other artisan food at the Southbank Centres Festival of Neighbourhood until 9
in London. Located next to the Hayward Gallery from 10am – 10pm every day, Luke’s Café is bringing a contemporary take on the traditional community café to the Southbank Centre.
Luke Hartland, sales manager for Hartland Pies and son of the renowned and award winning Pie Maker Ian Hartland, is combining his experience as a chef with the family’s four generations of history making pies and artisan foods to offer breakfast, lunch and dinner at Luke’s Cafe. On the menu will be Luke’s own ‘secret’ Pulled Pork recipe, bacon sandwiches, salads and hot and cold pies from the family’s bakery in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.
Luke Hartland, Luke’s Café owner, says: “We are delighted to have an all week presence this summer at the Southbank Festival of Neighbourhood and love the structure that the RIBA Students designed. Although we are regularly at weekly markets and have our partner retailers, we are grateful to the Southbank Centre for giving us this fantastic opportunity to showcase our great food to regulars and visitors alike.”
Many South Londoners will know Luke, and the rest of the family, from Hartland Pies weekly stall at Brockley Market, a burgeoning destination venue for foodies. Others will recognise many of their products, such as the traditional Melton Mowbray pork pie and Pork & Chorizo pies, which are stocked by a number of well known delis, butchers, pubs and bars around London."When - 31st May - 9th September, 12 noon - 6pm (or thereabouts)

Had a lovely lunch here today with my children. Three very satisfied customers. Don't know if the man who served us was Luke, but he was a gem. Service with a warm and friendly smile.
