Casa Sabor Cartagena is a two night pop-up featuring a 5 course dinner with many dishes based around fish and shellfish. It takes place on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th June.
"Esnayder Cuartas, founder of Sabor, announces the launch of a series of pop-ups, commencing with “Casa Sabor Cartagena” on the 6th & 7th June in Exmouth Market..
Sabor Restaurant opened to critical acclaim in Islington in 2004. It established Esnayder Cuartas at the forefront of modern Latin American Cuisine in London.
“Casa Sabor” is a series of pop-up restaurants, each with a strictly limited run, an individual theme and hosted in a unique venue. “Casa Sabor” is a concept drawn from urban Latin American food, demonstrating the culture and spirit of Latin American people. “Casa Sabor” draws inspiration from the Spanish and Portuguese Americas, using iconic foods to create casual yet sophisticated dishes. Beautiful food is accompanied by creative cocktails and fine wines from Argentina, Chile, and other parts of Latin America.
The first in the pop up series is “Casa Sabor Cartagena”. Like the city it is based on, this draws inspiration from the various influences of Indigenous, Spanish and African populations, as well foods brought by Arab traders and settlers. Many dishes are based on fish and shellfish, accompanied with coconut rice, fried plantain and salad. The five course menu deconstructs some classic dishes, to highlight the constituent flavours of fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and authentic spices and seasoning. Accompanied by cocktails and paired with fine South American wines. The restaurant features Latin American art and images, with both recorded and live music throughout the evening."
