Yummy Choo (whose head chef Selina Periampillai featured in a recent '8 questions' interview in the newsletter) are hosting a special Mauritian Sunday Lunch on April 28th just off Tottenham Court Road. Yummyness guaranteed!
"Yummy Choo promise a Sunday Lunch with a difference. Cooking up a delicious feast inspired by their sunshine Island – Mauritius. Often a cuisine that lacks presence in the UK, Yummy Choo want to expand your culinary knowledge, meet new friends and try something a bit different!
So look forward to Yummy Choo shaking their cabooties in the kitchen rustling up their exotic Mauritian menu:
Trio of Gajaks- Gateaux Bringele (aubergine chickpea battered slices), Gateaux Piment (split pea chilli cakes) accompanied with Coriander/Coconut Satini & Mauritian Coleslaw
Mini Puris with Spiced Rougaille & Fish Vindaye (traditionally served cold, pickled mustard fish)
Mauritian Cari Poulet (Family Recipe Chicken Curry infused with Mauritian spices, cinnamon and herbs) Served with fragrant rice, tomato chilli salsa, fresh coriander & vegetable fricassee.
Chef's Surprise Dessert! Inspired by the exotic flavours of Mauritius!
(Vegetarian option available with advance notice)
Yummy Choo really are creating waves with The Guardian's COOK supplement recently featuring a double page spread on their pursuits as well as a number of successful pop ups across London. So take this opportunity to try the authentic, aromatic flavours that Mauritian food can provide, hopefully with a splash of sunshine to boot!"
