The Novel Diner (previously) are back with another meal themed around a classic novel; this time Silvia Plath's The Bell Jar. This time it's a two night stand at The Bush Theatre in Shepherd's Bush.
""I don’t know what I ate, but I felt immensely better after the first mouthful. It occurred to me that my vision of the fig-tree and the fat figs that withered and fell to earth might well have arisen from the profound void of an empty stomach."
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Sylvia Plath’s only novel, The Bell Jar, we will be bringing you a new Novel Diner experience next month, as we take over the Bush Theatre library café and present our very first two-night event.
We are excited to announce that we will be joined by a different Plath specialist for each night: Andrew Wilson author of the Plath biography, Mad Girl’s Love Song, and Dr Richard Brown, lecturer in Modern English at the University of Leeds. Both will lead discussions on this much-lauded novel, and indulge us in a Q&A, on the 18th and 19th respectively.
Menus will be specially crafted and prepared by north London duo Dirty Apron bringing you the best of a New York City Ladies’ Day luncheon, and, of course, plenty of avocados.
As always, your freedom to dress up is positively encouraged, so whether you favour Esther or Doreen, Buddy or Constantin come donned in your '50s finest."
