Edible Cinema presents When Harry Met Sally in Notting Hill
Edible Cinema, film experience where you get packages of food to eat at key moments during classic movies, has announced it's Christmas treat - two showings of When Harry Met Sally at the refurbished Electric Cinema in Notting Hill. As you can see in the picture above you can have your drinks while you watch, along with your parcels of food for the different moments in the film. We previously featured their Halloween showing of Beetlejuice - see details here
"This Christmas, Edible Cinema will return to the newly refurbished Electric Cinema in Notting Hill for two fun and festive screenings of When Harry Met Sally on Sunday 16th December. This classic American romantic comedy starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan is one of the feel-good films of the last century and the festive scenes throughout the film are sure to encourage the Christmas spirit amongst the audience.
Edible Cinema is a collaboration between Soho House, renowned experience organiser Polly Betton, experimental food designer Andrew Stellitano and Bombay Sapphire mixologist Sam Carter.
Edible Cinema is a unique way to experience a film: through aroma, texture and taste. Each guest is supplied with a tray of numbered mystery boxes containing a bite-sized tasting menu tailored to specific moments in the film. A number corresponding to a parcel is displayed just before the crucial moment, signalling guests to get stuck in and enjoy the edible treat. On arrival, guests will also be served a Bombay Big Apple cocktail created by Bombay Sapphire. This delightful festive tipple is BIG on seasonal apple flavours inspired by the New York 'Big Apple' film location of 'When Harry Met Sally', incorporating Bombay Sapphire, apple schnapps, cloudy apple juice, apple bitters and topped up with cider. The cinnamon dust sprinkled over the cocktail gives an air of Christmas and also links to one of the 10 exotic botanicals found deep within Bombay Sapphire - Cassia Bark from IndoChina.
When Harry Met Sally offers some great moments to be translated into food. Hair spray, lip gloss and Sally’s constant culinary demands for items ‘on the side’ will all be highlighted through the packages.
The Electric Cinema will re-open to members and the public in early December offering new and luxurious seating, including horizontal ‘beds’ at the front of the auditorium. Blood-red leather armchairs and matching footstools will offer a stylish, comfortable viewing experience in the heart of Notting Hill."
