This summer we've seen several night markets spring up across the capital, and its good to see that some are evolving into Winter events. Street Feast have now announced a new residency at Hackney Downs Studios every Friday for food, drink and entertainment.
"Feast First, the team behind Street Feast London, is delighted to announce an autumn/winter residency at
Hackney Downs Studios. From Friday 21st September, the acclaimed London night market, which has been making waves across the capital this summer, will host a 500+ crowd every Friday night for an evening of feasting and entertainment at one of East London’s most eclectic and creative spaces.
Around 16 traders will pitch up each week, from heavyweights Big Apple Hot Dogs, Kimchi Cult and The Ribman, to emerging talents such as Vanduke noodles, and Yum Jungle, purveyors of the finest Thai spiced fried chicken. Sellers will rotate regularly, meaning plenty of choice and variety, and those already confirmed for launch night include all of the above plus Stripped Back – chef Ben Spalding’s unique take on street food, The Wild Game Co (winners of the Young British Foodie street food award), Mama’s Jerk Station, Bhangra Burger and several more. Those fond of a pud have not been forgotten, as Sorbitium Ices and Sweet Tooth Factory will be on hand, and there will of course be the Street Feast Bar, serving a range of drinks including craft beer from Camden Town Brewery and seasonal cocktails.
A bigger, permanent venue means that Street Feast can add several new dimensions to the experience. There will be three live acoustic sets from unsigned acts, and weekly film screenings in a specially created space which will be shown silent cinema style with headphones. Eight arts, crafts and fashion stalls come courtesyof Netil Market and Designers/Makers, and a soft play area for children will also be in place. There will be an extended reservations service, with 100+ seats available for booking, and now also for couples to groups as large as 20. There will be one hidden private dining room known as The Chamber for groups of 8-12 who what want that extra bit of privacy, which also has its own iPod-friendly sound system.
Dominic Cools-Lartigue, founder of Feast First, commented: “Keeping Street Feast in Hackney is incredibly important to us so that it can continue to grow as a community event. We’ve felt that the local community has really embraced what we’re trying to do, and moving inside over the autumn/winter to Hackney Downs Studios means that we can develop our offering in a stimulating way. The addition of live bands, films, and arts, crafts & fashion stalls will be a treat for our regulars but also quite a unique experience for anywhere across London.”
