Record Store Day, which takes place this year on 21st April, is an annual celebration of record shops. It started in the US, but it's been happening in the UK for a while now. I had lots of fun last year outside (& inside) Rough Trade West in Notting Hill - lots of bands playing, lots of happy people milling around. Check the official site near the time to see what is planned for each store. With stores like Dress Circle in Covent Garden taking part, and bands releasing music just for the day, there's going to be so much variety in the events this year.
"This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ's, in store quizzes and many other events."
