4 Day Pop-up Festival at the National Theatre on the South Bank - NOW FINISHED

A 4 day festival is taking place in Theatre Square outside the National Theatre.  Billed as "It's Great Outdoors" the programme starts on Friday 26th with an alternative campsite, and ends on Bank Holiday Monday 29th with an alternative village fete.

"Friday 26th, The Big Sleepover (Free 5pm-7.30pm, Booked 7.30pm Fri - 10am Sat): the National Theatre Square becomes an inner-city campsite for The Big Sleepover. As the campfire blazes and the barbeque crackles, join us to roast marshmallows, pick up some bushcraft skills and listen to magical stories. Then for a very limited number, there will be the chance to spend the night under canvas (adventurous kids welcome 7+ in the family sleeping area). Highlights of the evening programme include archeologist led foreshore walks by the river and a singsong by the fire. You'll also be making your own clay egg cup, fired in the camp kiln overnight, ready for breakfast.
Booking for the sleepover is essential, call 020 7452 3445, tickets £10 including breakfast.
Artists include: Martin Brockman, Mike Webber, Tim Mitchell, White Rabbit, The Dulwich Ukulele Club, The Baker Street Irregular Astronomers, Wildwood Bushcraft
Saturday 27th, A Crafty Hoedown (Free 1pm-7.30pm): its all thigh slapping and yeeha on Saturday with an array of great activities to get stuck into, from radical craft in the big tent with Crafternoon Tea Club's TRASH MASH and a good old-fashioned hoedown outside with the Cut a Shine Collective
Sunday 28th (Free 1pm-5.30pm) & Monday 29th (Free 1pm-4pm) The Alternative Village Fete: a riotous Bank Holiday weekend of unconventional artists, craftmakers and produce stalls in home live art's contemporary take on the traditional village fete. All the stalls are skew-whiff versions of everything you'd expect to see at a fete alongside music and mass particpatory fun and games as village life comes crashing into the concrete jungle."
